Hi, my name is Peter and I am a Peer Mentor for CDAH.
My youngest daughter has Cerebral Palsy and I am proud to have been able to help her to be the best she could be. When Cassie was younger, we moved to Sydney to develop an exciting new Early Intervention program. Since then it has been a remarkable journey, from swimming with the dolphins (thanks Starlight) to achieving 4 Australian swimming records, Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and now has her sights set on Paralympic Boccia.
As a parent, I understand the highs and lows of bringing up a child with a disability. As a nurse, I have worked as a carer and supported families during hard times. As a teacher, I have a passion to help guide people as they learn and grow.
As a mentor, I can offer skills to:
Help guide people through decisions to support a disabled family member
Help understand a disability
Help build skills in training, presenting or public speaking
As a way to chill out, I like to spend time playing bass with friends or singing in a men’s group.
